Please join us for a day of mindfulness at restful Jenkins Arboretum where you will be invited to learn in a personal and meaningful way, the Buddhist teachings of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, in traditional and innovative forms. Enjoying fellowship as we practice together, we will:
- Partake in mindful movement
- receive guided meditations
- listen to live Dharma Talks
- partake in a mindful lunch
- outdoor walking meditation
- learn concrete practices of peace and love with question and response
- Dharma Sharing
- more intimate question and response for on-site participants with teachers
The beautiful grounds of Jenkins Arboretum offer a peaceful setting to be present together for the day.
This will be a hybrid retreat. On-site at Jenkins Arboretum, Devon, Pennsylvania is expected to fill up as on-site space is limited. Register early.

Sister Định Nghiêm, Beloved Teacher and former Abbess of New Hamlet, Plum Village, France, received full ordination to bhukshuni in 1996 and was the 21st disciple of Thay in the 43rd generation of the Lin Chi lineage, 9th generation of the Lieu Quan lineage (a Vietnamese branch of the Lin Chi lineage). Sister Định Nghiêm was alongside our beloved teacher Thay, Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, after his stroke in 2014 until his passing. Returning to Plum Village after an absence of several years, Sister Định Nghiêm conveys a deep warmth and understanding of Thay and the community in her intimate sharing with monastics and laypersons. Dr. Katie Hammond Holtz received ordination from Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh into the Tiep Hien Order in 2002. A Senior Order of Interbeing Member, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Teacher, practicing licensed psychologist, and Certified Anam Cara Spiritual Mentor, Katie is well-known for her creativity, open-heartedness and warmth, and in her teaching. Practicing mindfulness for 40 years, and a pioneer sangha builder since then, she is well- versed in both traditional and new approaches to practice. She met Thich Nhat Hanh in 1991 after practicing for five years. As learned from Thich Nhat Hanh, she has, for the past 30 years, offered mindfulness in her clinical practice to promote healing in her clients, including children, families, adults and those with anxiety, attentional and neurological conditions. She formed Coming Home Mindfulness Practice Center in 2009, offering traditional practice, affinity groups for women, and leading mindfulness retreats for the public and health care professionals. Katie loves sharing the heart of practice, so that others may take it home and make it their own, to live a better life. She is the author of Coming Home: How Just 5 Minutes a Day Leads to a Lifetime of Mindfulness. |
